Slingerland Snare. - What is it?

Loading...

Gentelmen,

I have a snare on ebay that I have listed as a 1961 Slingerland Super Gene Krupa snare drum. However, I have someone who responded telling me it is not and that it has the wrong hoops for the period. Can someone confirm what I have??

I have attached some pics

I'm no expert and I'm sure someone else will chime in, but the I don't think the hoops are correct. They look like die cast.....It would be nice to see a photo of the bearing edges too....

Should be COB sticksavers for your drum.

you have the snare drum listed correctly, but it's not a solid wood shell it's a ply shell, and as kevins stated it has the wrong rims on it those are modern rims that came on the gibson era slingerlands, yours should have chrome over brass stick saver rims!

You did the right thing pulling this off ebay, due to the misInformation that you had, to once again recount, this is not a Radio king solid shell drum, its a plied shell,It is a Super Gene Krupa model!! it has unoriginal parts on it the rims, also the badge is a Niles badge not a chicago badge, I'm a huge fan of Duco drums and yours is a real beauty, plus the price was to high! well done on your part!!Bowing

Hi Randy, Where drum geeks are concerned, it's a small world!

I'm the guy that alerted you to the errors in the listing.

I think this DFO thread will amuse you:

I respect how you handled it, brother, and wish you well.

Thanks to everyone who helped me on this one.

I have relisted the drum on eBay, dropped the price and corrected all of the mis-information.

You don't know how much the forums here help people like me. - You guys are more valuable than you know.

Thanks a millions

Regards,

Randy

OH...and thanks for the offer on the rim, but I was told I could go ahead and list the drum as it was and let people know it has the wrong rims - which I did.

Thanks again!
