Slingerland snare identification Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Loading...

Hi,

i bought this Slingerland snare for 80 bucks without knowing anything about it. The hoops are not original, they're yamaha wood hoops, and the throw off could also been switched out. Couldn't identify the badge. It seems to have a "parallel strainer" that you can adjust on both sides.

Any ideas?

The strainer and lugs are the same I have on an early 1970's Japanese Star so no Slingerland I'm afraid. The badge is Slingerland import and looking at the grommet it appears to be tampered with. The shell looks Slingerland to me. Try if a magnet sticks it,...

So it's probably a taiwan import Slingerland? Maybe a 80's or 90's?

I'm afraid that you bought this snare from a very creative do it yourself type of person.

Those lugs and strainer are not Slingerland.

I'd put my hopes on that shell to be genuine.

Wait for the experts to wake up,... still very early in the US,...

Probably a cheap drum, however, the retail rate on those hoops is right at $200 and, from the one picture they appear to be in great shape ... so that would be a score in my book! If you want to sell the hoops and they are in good condition let me know as I have a friend who just picked up an Anton Fig snare with a pretty tired batter hoop. He will need a new one fairly soon.

You see,... a good deal after all,... !

Just for your info, here's a picture of a 1972 Star with those lugs and strainer.

I contacted the seller and cut the deal off. I have no use for wood hoops :)

Do you mind passing the info along? That may be a killer deal for my friend with the tired hoops. It all depends on if they are genuine Yamaha hoops.

I dont think it would be a killer deal because both me and the seller lives in Sweden. So you will have postage, taxes etc...

Ahhhh...well that makes sense. I've always liked Sweden. The Globe in Sokholm is a pretty cool venue!
