Nice family photo! ;)
Slingerland snare #3 on the way.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Off to task I go. This is just a clean and make shinny so leaving it in Vintage Drums. First set of pics. Always a treat to take heads off and see what was up at the factory that day. No time to wipe the excess glue but a nice birdseye re-ring.
Next are tear down.

Here are some more. 16 hours Dawn soak on a hotplate. Rods and snare bits have gone in for another soak.
The clips and lugs get coated in polish and put in the tumbler. Only three correct clips. Had extra bell style so will use them. 3 wrong tension rods. Have those as well. Just not sure where they have gone :-)

Beautiful mahogany - lugs are in fantastic shape - nice find. Bet she sings like a diva! WAY TO GO! Top drawer snare.
Things are moving along.
Lugs and clips out of the tumbler. Wiped down with 99% Isopropyl alcohol. Going into another Dawn bath.
Snare parts and t-rods after second Dawn bath. They are off to the tumbler.
The rest of the drums parts. They will be cleaned by hand.

Sometimes the process is every bit as much fun as the finished product. Can't wait to see it all back together!

You know I wonder if anyone knows when Slingerland stopped stamping "Slingerland drum company" on the inside washers. My snare looks to have the same badge and washers inside. Late 50's by the guide. I guess it might have been part of the old die. Maybe they stamped so many it just got lost over the years. Things to ponder. :) Great job on the parts. As always!

Looking good! boy, you sure are a well organized gent. Beautiful wood inside of that shell.
Thank you!

Thanks all,
Here are the lugs after first polish. More work required on those. Snare parts after two soaks and a tumble. These are no where close to done as well. 60 plus years of neglect does not come off easy or fast :-)
