Slingerland serial numbers Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I know...here we go again. I've read and re-read the excellent info on Vintage Drum Guide and I'd just like some verification that I'm on the right track.

My silver sparkle Slingies have the black/silver rounder oval badge--not football-shaped and not the transition badge ("Slingerland" font is different from older badges.) They have 3-ply mahogany-poplar-maple shells with maple reinforcing rings. They have a clear finish on the inside (not milky beige).

These clues indicate they were built between 1970 and '72, right?

Now, to the serial number graph... My serial numbers are all 5 digits, indicating they were made after the reset and before the 100,000 mark on the graph. Again, 1970-72.

Does this sound right?

Welcome to the VDF.

If you could snap a photo of one of the badges with the numbers that would be great. Badges have moments of just being off. This was due in part that when the badge box on the assembly floor ran low they typically dumped more on top without finishing the last batch. Chances are your kit was made in the time frame your thinking.

Given that your badge was only used for those couple of years, you would certainly be correct.

Cheers

Thanks. The photos I took of the badges didn't turn out very well (flash burn). I will try to take some better ones.
