Slingerland Questions Last viewed: 11 hours ago

I've got a Slingerland kit in the company's Red Tiger wrap as well as one in its Blue Agate wrap. Both kits have the Slingerland Black & Silver badges.

The Red Tiger kit (40,xxx S/Ns) has the "milk chocolate" looking interior shells while the Blue Agate kit (56,xxx S/Ns) has clear interior shells.

Can anyone tell me what year the company switched from the "milk chocolate" looking interior shells to clear shells?

Also, the tom mounts on the Red Tiger rack toms don't have the "clips" (see pic) that's found on the mounts on the Blue Agate rack toms. The rack toms from both kits tighten securely on the respective Set-O-Matic posts installed on the bass drums. However, I was wondering whether the "clips" were only used during certain years or whether they should be present on all the rack tom mounts regardless of the year?

THANKS in advance for your time and your help!Bowing

The "chocolate milk" stain was used from 1966 into 1970, with some stained shells appearing into 1971.

My thinking is the clips are supposed to be there... lots of mine have been missing, so I replaced them.

Without them the screws damage the tom arms terribly, sometimes to the point of making them hard to insert into the mounts.
