I picked up this Slingerland kit and I'm trying to get some info on them. I will get pics up soon, but let me try to describe them. They have the same lugs as the 60's and 70's kits, the kick looks to be a 17x22 with ten lugs, it has a Pearl type tom holder with Slingerland written on the mount and the legs are the heavy duty type that fold up against the kick. The tom is a 9x12 and the floor is a 12x14 hang tom. The shells look to be 6ply maple. Does this sound like the Lite series made in the 90's? Would these be imports? Thanks.

the badge guide can help you narrow it down. it covers some of the serial numbers for that era

Here are a few pictures, someone re-wrapped them in what I believe is sparkle bright, probably the worst finish I've ever seen.DOH
JR, your kit is an HHS era Artist classic series. 5 ply shells, maple &
mahogany american wood, assembled in Taiwan. Just going on the badges, unless they were swapped during the rewrap.

Stevo hit the nail on the head with this one! The Classic series, also known as the Artist Custom, was in the middle of the Lite and the Spirit series. While made in Taiwan, they were made from North American wood shipped in, consisting of inner/outer plies of Canadian Maple and three inner mahogany plies. Actually nice drums! I've got an HSS Artist Custom that just needs a wrap or painted finish. All the hardware is in like-new condition! It's a 4pc; 8x12, 14x14, 14x20 and a 5.5x14 10-lug Artist snare drum, with Zoomatic strainer. Just another project for me in the not-too-distant future!
Enjoy your Artist kit!
