Slingerland Kit Question: What's This? Last viewed: 22 hours ago

Loading...

Several years ago I picked up a Slingerland Kit simply to set up in my basement to use whenever I or anyone else in the house chose to let out a little steam after a "challenging" day.

The kit's got a plain black wrap on the shells and consists of a 22 inch bass, 13 inch rack tom and 16 inch floor tom, all with Niles Silver & Black badges (with SNs). The bass drum's got a center mount that can accept both an arm for the rack tom as well as an arm for a cymbal or two toms, if you'd like.

The interior shells of all of the drums are a sort of speckled black or dark grey, which I've never seen on Slingerland drums.

I'm simply trying to date this kit. Please have a look at the pics I've posted and let me know if these features look even remotely familiar to you.

As usual, thanks in advance for your time and your help!

Hi Old School,

I believe your drums are part of the Slingerland "Spirit" Series drum kits and were manufactured between 1981-86. They were 3 play Maple-Poplar-Maple or Mahogany shells. If you check out the Vintage Drum Identification tab on this website and go to Slingerland Drums you can find out some more about your drums. How do they sound?
