Slingerland Jet Outfit

Loading...

Hello! Long time no post. I think I may have come across a Slingy Jet outfit in Grey Agate. Does anyone in the forum know about these drums? I am planning to clean up/complete the kit and sell it, but I want to talk about what is "correct" on Jet drums because I've never owned a set. Are there any jet experts on here? How hard to find is this set?

Sizes are 14x18, 8x12, 14x14 and the bass has an original rail mount on it. Metal SS hoops on bass with the pedal tab. I'll get some pics up when I get them more presentable. Currently I think I need a spade, a 14 inch COB hoop for the bottom of the floor, rods, and the front hoop on the bass is COS---it's a 1966 set, so is this likely original? Batter side is COB as well as the hoops on the other drums.

18 and 14 both have wrap splits that are super hard to see--otherwise pretty great condition.

Thanks in advance!

My first Slingerland was a new '67 Jet Kit.. I'd say the COS hoop is a later replacement. Around then front heads and hoops often ended up in the garage and pillows sat in the Bd. The rail mount was an option on those in lieu of the snare stand (which mine had). Actually I have never seen a pic of one with that rail mount. In '69 the Set O Matic became standard on the Jet in place of the floor stand.

Cheers

John

The "Jet" outfits are just plain cool! I had one some years back and regret selling it! Mine had the 20" bass drum. The original satin flame wrap was so bad that I had the shells re-wrapped. I kept the original "Buck Rogers" tom stand for use as a snare stand and installed a near-mint Setomatic tom holder. I didn't know much about these kits back then and really should have kept the rack tom on the Buck Rogers stand! I tracked down a Snap-On pedal had a had a fold down tab custom made. A really nice kit...that I should have held on to!

Do you have the Snap On pedal? I've got an extra one if you're interested!

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your kit!

I believe our member "backbeatkeeper" has a Jet outfit with a rail consolette.

I am interested in the pedal for sure. What do you need for it? I'd like to see about a tab but I kind of also want to make some wood hoops for the kit with some old inlay if I can find it. Still in clean up mode right now, but the kit is actually in killer shape.
