Slingerland era Leedy Lugs Wanted Last viewed: 19 hours ago

Loading...

I'm starting a new project, this time a Slingerland era Leedy kit. Have the bare shells, but I need a lot, and I mean a lot, of the large beavertail chrome lugs. These would be the ones used on toms and bass drums with the 1 1/2" hole spacing. Need a total of 32 lugs. Mounting screws, inserts and springs would be nice to have as well.

Endless internet searches lead me to the Leedy experts here.....PM me if you can help me out.

Well......the 9x13 tom shell I have has the same bolt hole spacing as the 14x22 bass drum shell I have. Both are 1 1/2" center to center. This would lead me to believe they are the large beavertail lugs, no?

They appear to be identical to Slingerland manufactured shells. They are ink stamped 1964 inside, and I have measured the tom twice and they measure the same as the bass shell for lug hole spacing. The reinforcement rings are narrow and rounded just like Slingerland shells, not like the wider, more squared off re-rings of the Conn-era shells. (I have restored a few Conn-era Leedy drums, as well as a Leedy & Ludwig kit in the past, and a 1960's Slingerland kit too. So I am aware of the differences between era's of Leedy shells.) Maybe it was an anomoly where they had run ou of the small beavertails for the tom on that particular day.
