I don't know why someone wouldn't want these. I think 1970s was the pinnacle of Slingerland craftsmanship. Some lucky person can have some of the best sounding drums ever for 850? Cheap new kits today are only $100 less...

You know and I know they are great drums, but Slingerland doesn't seem to generate much interest, especially the satin finishes.

Dizzyingly beautiful drums Johnny. Prudence suggests a single Slingerand tom mount and the flexibility to use it as one up, one down. Reduce the price a bit, stash the 12 tom and sell it off later with the double mount or at additional cost. That's the simply-to-carry configuration and draws a lot more attention from what I can see. Those double tom mounts are rather restrictive in terms of placing the drums where you want them.

It is odd that Slingerland doesn't command the same value as other vintage drums, but it is mostly associated with a lack of cosmetic control during manufacturing - blowing out the inner ply when drilling for mounts in particular, and the fact that they built a lot of drums. That's simply supply and demand. But I've had them and you are correct that they sound good and they are relatively light, making them really good for day-to-day gigging.

Note that someone had a nice SlingerLeedy in natural finish on eBay recently in 20,12,14 format and couldn't draw $1k. Shelly Manne type kit. Ever hear the recordings of him playing? He made those babies sing. Make that Gretsch, Rogers or Camco and its gone before you ever see it. Ludwig, maybe a little lower, and again because of the volume of drums Ludwig built.

Good luck on the sale!

PS - Like that flat base direct pull hi-hat! Very cool. My first real bass pedal was the unit that matched that one. Great pedal.

You mean like this? The double tom arm works perfect with one tom, lot's of flexibility.

I would love to have that kit, but unfortunately, i dont have that much money right now, sorry. I think the blue satin is beautiful. Good luck with your sale, it is well worth every penny you are asking for.
