does anyone else have any pictures of concordes?

I really like seeing these copper-wrapped drums. There was an auction

last summer where i live that had a set of these with 2 heads per drum.

He bought them new at the local drum stor new. The whole set with

4 Zildjian cumbals went up selling for $350.00. Original soft cases

included. Enjoy these!!

Hey Brandon: Love that you've breathed new life into these classics. The Concorde was a kit I wanted when I was in my prime, and passed on the chance to get the full kit when it became available in 1973. Now, like you, I'm on the lookout for any used ones; if you come across any you already have, let me know.

Here is my 1972-3 6 piece Concorde kit. I have owned and played them for over 20 years and they still sound great! This photo is my setup just before a gig.

Current home is Vancouver, Canada but also played them Europe when I lived there.

Great acquisition. I applaud you for making an honest tom out of that 14" drum. If those drums were mine, I would:

> Remove the beat up copper wrap

> Remove the horrible and unused Ludwig tom mount

> Fill in the holes for the Ludwig mount

> Rewrap the drums--DO NOT ATTEMPT A NATURAL FINISH. Every attempt I have seen to do that looks lame because of the non-presentation grade outer ply.

> Install a real period-correct Slingerland tom mount, and ditch the snare stand for the MOUNTED tom. Snare stands are for snare drums.

I'll add my 2 cents here-Slingerland metal wraps are VERY difficult to remove without damaging the plies. You need to be very patient,and the resulting drum will need to be recovered.And in IMHO-14"drums are too big for the Slingy tom mount system of that era,unless the drum is mounted close to the ball itself,which would mean mounting the tom arm from a clamp on a cymbal stand.I like your well used drum set as it is,myself.Not everything has to be restored....Reminds me of the Tama Superstars I just picked up,size wise.

I can not find my pictures of my concorde ( 4 piece set). It was , as all copper set, in bad shape. I had planing to recover them to copper again, I even find a company they had a "cheap" thinn highpolished copper, and they could even cut it out in their machine for me. It should me cost about 800$, so I finaly chose a little bit cheaper wrap... Gold Satin.

Sh**t , whats happening, why did pict´s get so big???

Ihave been too heard that it should be realy hard to remove old wrap... I did not find it hard att all... they almost just fly off when I separate copper/on/copper glue, and remove lugs...

And I have a 14" tom, original holder, ( not sooo good ontion) and it´s no problem at all .
