I just picked up a 4X14 earlier today. Mine is chrome over wood. What is the the most sought after finish on this drum?
Slingerland Buddy Rich snare question
I'm sure TommyP will chime in on this... but... I think it's WMP and COW. Do you have the 3-ply or 5-ply shell? Tone control? Stick Saver or Stick Chopper hoops? Here's a picture of my custom-made BR 4x14, with COB Stick Chopper hoops. It's wrapped in silver sparkle to match my 1967 Slingerland kit.

redneckdrum!
Mark is spot on here! As this particular model was designed specifically for Buddy Rich as well as named the Slingerland 4X14 Buddy Rich, WMP is the most sought after followed by the COW model. Buddy started with the WMP model and than changed over to the COW model. The COW affords a slightly brighter tone given the real spring steel chromed wrap. The early production models were identical to Buddy's in that they featured Slingerland's StickChopper hoops and no tone controls. That changed afterward to StickSaver hoops and tone controls. I have both in the Buddy Rich snare drum collection. Both are early 1st production models .. ( 1969/70 ) .. thus they have StickChopper hoops, Zoomatic, no tone controls, and are as Mark stated, 3 ply with rings. Nice drums regardless of the wrap choice! Again though, WMP followed by COW are the most sought after! Here are a couple pics of mine.
