Slingerland Bass Drum Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Hey, just got a 26x10 Slingerland bass drum and I was wondering if anyone could identify what I really have and to what kit it belongs to (if any). Looked everywhere online, and could only find one other one in worse condition on ebay. Here are some pictures of the drums (sorry for the bad quality, used the phone.)

I was also wonder what this is on the top (or bottom) of the bass drum. This is my first older drum so I have no clue.

Thanks!

You've got a marching bass from the 1950's. That stamped "dog tag" badge came into use in 1953 and those lugs were replaced by the "Sound King" lugs in 1955, so your drum was probably made in that 1953-55 window.

As for the "wonder what this is" picture... The two eyelets are for attaching harness straps so the drum can be worn. The item between the eyelets is a drum key holder.

Attach some clamp-on spurs and it'll make a fine (albeit shallow) kick drum.

I was gonna ask if there was any way to stabilize it, but you already got to that. :) Just put the Remo Powerstroke on it recently and the bass is really rocking. Was hoping to find the rest of the kit, but I guess I don't need to now.

Thanks for the help!
