Slingerland Artist snare 1-ply or 3?

greetings all,

I am selling my old Slingerland Artist snare which was given to me by a family friend (the original owner) about 15 years ago. It's red sparkle 5.5" x 14". I'm trying to figure out if it's one-ply or 3. It seems to me like this should be visibly obvious, in which case it looks to me to be 1-ply, but i just don't want to mislead anyone. The drum is serial #19912 if that helps.. here is a link to a flickr set with hi-res pics of the snare...

Looks like single ply maple to me too. Nice snare.

I agree with the others, looks like a single ply. Also the serial is a low number, probably around 1963 and is in the correct time frame of the 1-ply Artist.

okay, as one final question for clarification, if it were one-ply, that wouldn't imply that the reinforcement rings were integral to the shell, right? it looks to me that the rings are a seperate piece of wood than the shell, which appears to be single-ply.

^ This.Re rings are never part of the shell,and always added after the shell is formed.It looks like a single ply to me also.
