Slingerland Artist for sale

Hey all,

I have a really REALLY clean early 1970's Slingerland Artist snare drum up for sale. Here are the details: Crushed blue glitter wrap, 3 ply shell, clear maple interior, excellent chrome over steel hoops, 8 really nice lugs in beautiful shape.

The wrap is in excellent condition with just a few scuffs. I waxed the shell and the color really pops. All the interior metal parts have been cleaned and lubricated. Exterior metal parts have been waxed. Tension rods turn smoothly and the zoomatic works great. The original zoomatic has been replaced with a later model. I'm not sure of the vintage, but it is more solid than the original version. The original zoomy knob is missing so if you'd rather have the original strainer, that isn't a problem. Just holler. Of course, you would have to pick up a knob. The muffler knob, grommet and badge have a few scuffs. The badge is lifted a little bit off the shell for some reason. To me, the grommet looks original but I'm not an expert on Slingerland.

The bearing edges have a few minor voids between the shell and reinforcement hoop. A little wood putty would fix this right up. The shell is 100% structurally sound.

The drum sounds terrific as all Slingy wood shells do. I'm only selling this drum (and some others) to fund a Slingy solid wood snare purchase in the future. I'd consider this drum to be an 8 out of 10 condition wise. An excellent player is what I'd call it.

Here's the link to the photos I took.

I'm looking to get $225 plus shipping for the drum. I'm known as Left_Side_Ride on ebay so please check my feedback.

Please PM if interested. Thanks!

If you look at the pics, it might appear that some of the panels are washed out or faded. This is not the case. Bad lighting!

Wow, You have one! The reason I am looking for a Slingerland 3 ply Artist snare is the one that I currently own has cracks on the interior Maple ply and it is driving me crazy! I wish I could find one that doesn't have any structual issues! I guess I am a perfectionist when it comes to vintage snare drums. I am going to pass on your drum even though I really would like to purchase it. I am looking for a Mid 70's 3 ply Artist-the edges are a little sharper as well-35 degree edges I think, with an inner bevel on the reinforcing rings as well. If I were you I would keep that snare! All the best! Clapping Happy2 Phil Cormier Fitchburg, MA 01420

Stay patient brother, you'll find it. I guess everyone was playing metal snares in the mid 70's. I'd like to find one of these 3 ply 70's snares with the TDR strainer.

This Artist has sharper edges than my late 60's Hollywood Ace. It is a bit brighter with more cut. You can really tell with the wires off. The Ace is a little rounder with a woody stick. I have yet to find a Slingerland snare that I didn't like.
