Slingerland Artist 1-ply

Loading...

Just got this 60's slingerland artist 1-ply snare on cl for $275. Any thoughts on its value in today's market? an ebay search reveals a recent sale of an artist one-ply for $400. the picture is admittedly bad; my cell phone is old and out-of-date.

275 is a good price for a single ply, 350-450 for even the most common wraps seem to be the going rate.

I wouldn't worry about the price, I would play it! I have one in champagne sparkle and I love the way it sounds.

I agree, they sound incredible, I let my red sparkle artist go after I sold my red sparkle kit, really wish I had kept it.

actually, i'm thinking it may not be a one-ply after all. the snare appears to be a 68 or 69 judging by the information available on vintagedrumguide.com (mainly looking at the strainer - idiot bar and wider slider).

according to the guide, slingerland made very few if any one-ply snares during that period. i honestly can't tell by looking at the edge. it looks like one-ply to me, but i guess i'm getting old and my eyes are failing me because i really can't tell.

i'll try to post close-ups of the bearing edge so maybe someone can help me.
