Slingerland 'America' Eagle Decal Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Loading...

Hi,

Some of the guys were discussing this graphic awhile back so I decided to download the best photocopy taken from a drum and clean it up for use as a decal! It took awhile to clean this up and manipulate the color so it looks fresh again. If anybody wants a copy for reproduction I will be happy to supply print ready 300dpi JPG copies that I can email to you. It's a large file, so it has to be done by attaching it to an email. PM me your email addy and I'll get a copy out to you.

This is a sample:

Thanks, the file for the art has been sent out to you! Yep, it was a bee-atch of a clean-up. Three multiple hour sessions in Photoshop is what it took, but it came out great. I wanted to preserve it, as a lot of these old drum graphics get lost and are never reproduced. If I find others, I'll do those as well and start a little library of vintage drum graphics. I'm retired now so I can use all the art/graphics skills I honed for decades on stuff that -I- want to work on. :D

John thank you Brother! So cool and you do great work. Thank you thank you thank you for dedicating your time to this project. I need to see if I can run water transfer decal stock through the Indigo at work. I can do vinyl no problem but the press blanket gets to 140* normally for plastic and vinyl stocks. I add null cycles to pre heat/stretch the plastic stocks for good color register. This just runs the sheets around the blanket cylinder a few times. The higher temps are needed for good ink transfer and drying on this digital press. Without those the sheet will stretch and colors can hang out all over. If I can find stocks that work I'll run off some and send them to you! Also the cool thing is this press can print a solid white ink backround under the image if desired to avoid translucent color loss. But they might stand out a bit too much. I'll see what I can find out.

lj - Send me your home email addy and I'll send you a copy!

Glenn - if you do it, run -transparent- backgrounds so the wood grain of the drum can show through. The decal will look more 'painted on'!

Yep that sure looks the same. If I do transparent without white you'll loose the white areas in the decal itself. Now that I see it on a drum there's a white base. I can do from 1 to 16 hits on white. Normally 1-2 hits will still be somewhat transparent even with the opaque white ink we use. It's a thin layer. Or can drop the white out completely. Will try some tests and keep you posted.
