Slingerland '70s chrome/steel snare? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

I see these Slingy chrome/steel 5x14 drums around here and there for often very low $$. I've owned a couple of Krupa-style brass Sling snares that sounded great but never steel.

Any particular opinions on these?

They are great sounding, Just a little harder sounding than a Krupa sound king.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Just finished cleaning a $75 Niles Festival. Case, stand and practice pad included. The chrome plating on everything except the lugs is very thin.

If you want bright and shiny check for any pitting. The chrome may just flake off while cleaning/polishing. I'm now looking for one that would appear a basket case. Get all of the chrome off and you have endless finish options.

Best I can tell so far it's a very nice drum. Not much to loose on one.

I bought one a couple of years ago... In amazing condition... Tuned high it's a little firecracker.. Amazing rimshot tone..

Cheers
