Does anyone recognize this signature? It's on a S.D. my friend bought in Fla.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
My family doctor? Looks like one of his prescriptions!
Tough to figure out what any of the letters may be. It's a highly stylized signature. If it's somebody famous, it shouldn't be hard to match up. I've never seen writing like that. If you can figure out the first letter... you're off to a good start. I can't make heads, or tails of the thing.

Phil sat once again behind the wheel of the rented Ryder truck, pondering why he ever became a band roadie. Long hours, little pay, constant travel, he had had enough!
Reaching into his shirt pocket for his magic marker so he could scribble a note to notify the band of his resignation, his hand came back empty. Crap! lost another one. And, why is that damn snare drum rattling every time I hit a bump.
I have a 6" head that I paid Ginger Baker to sign back in the late 80's or early 90's. There is no way anyone could tell who signed it. It looks like he just jiggeled the marker across the head.
Looks like S. R. and last two letters are a double t. Can`t make out the first two letters of the last name.

I think it's "B" and "R"...
Could be a crazy Buddy Rich signature gone wild..
larryz!
Probably not though.. ( a crazy Buddy Rich signature gone wild ) .. as I have seen countless Buddy Rich signature's, have gotten three, still have two!, and he was actually... very consistent, if not harried when signing now and then. The "B" is kinda like Buddy's "B"... but the rest, no... especially so the line across/crossing, what? His last name is Rich. Nothing to cross there, although from time to time he would underline his last name. Also, in most cases, he would sign Buddy with Rich underneath that. I can't say definitively of course, but based on what I have seen over the years, doubtful. Even at his sloppiest, you can always tell it's Buddy Rich. This one is indeed a mystery!

...and I doubt Buddy ever played a clear PowerStroke.

tnsquint!
No... he most certainly did not! LOL!!! Thing is though, Buddy would sign whatever you brought, be it an album cover, pic, piece of paper, drum head, etc. The items he signed weren't what he would have actually used regarding drum heads. I saw guys with all sorts of different model heads, etc... and if BR were in a good mood.. ( always a plus of course! ) .. he would sign them. I have a 1978/1980 Ludwig coated batter.. ( NEW style Ludwig logo, blue ink ) .. that Buddy signed. He was with Ludwig at the time, and for the LAST time as it turned out. Unfortunately, he signed it upside down! Certainly no biggie as they say, but... I was hoping that it would have been right side up. Glad to even have it of course!, and I have it framed, hanging proudly on the wall in my drum room/studio.
