From Powertone

Two piece kit for the minimalist...22" Gretsch bass drum and a 6.5x14 Rogers Cleveland Powertone.

... and I do much the same when playing a "light" jazz gig at low volume! This was taken NYE at a church that was converted to a concert venue! The acoustics were as you might imagine... VERY ALIVE! Rogers 14X18 bass drum and my trusty Dynasonic, few cymbals, and voila!... perfect for the situation. Pic was taken at a distance, hence the "grain".

Almost ALWAYS Rogers for me!... but I also have these:

1997 Ludwig "BR". This set was built for a Ludwig endorser that jumped ship and went over to DW. He contacted me and just about gave them away, thus I HAD to take them. Thought was that I would do a "quick flip".. but .. then I played them. I ended up gigging on this set for over a year! They are now set up as my practice set, and I STILL haven't sold them. Sizes, with a slight departure from actual BR sizes, are:

14X24

9X13

14X14

16X16

5.5X14 w/StickChopper hoops

ALL Ludwig "BR" Hercules hardware

Boy Tommy, talk about being in the right place at the right time! Good for you, those are absolutely gorgeous. If you ever sell them call me first!

So what do you mean by slight departure, what size were Buddy's?

Thank you!

Jeff!

Glad you enjoyed! The 'slight departure' is the 14X14 floor tom. Buddy always had two 16X16's. Otherwise, the rest is pure BR! I would absolutely contact you first on these Jeff. You now have first dibs on them!

I knew about the 2 floor toms being 16 each, I guess it was the bass drum I was not sure about. I've only been around here a few years, Im a slow learner.

Human71,

Most guys have seen this kit, thats why I did not post it until now. But since the thread has taken off I thought what the heck, some new guys haven't seen it. I have only done one gig and one studio recording with this kit so I slightly qualify here.

But anyway, 60's Ludwig shells purchased from memebers billnvick and surface ( both excellent people to buy from) covered in zebra wood veneer and clear coated with a gloss conversion varnish. Snare drum was a 10" marching drum cut down to a 7.5" drum.

I had gigging in mind when I built them, now we just need gigs.
