I take a 2-3 inch wide piece of cardboard about 10-12 inches longer than the total circumference and make a round circle around the cymbal to protect all the edges after bubble-wrapping or if it's a singular cymbal, sometimes I just taped it to the bottom of the box after I've bubble wrapped it.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Just toss em in a box with a heap of popcorn, which will float to the top of the non protected item...I SWEAR I have received so many purchased items from ebay sellers, forum members and even retailers wit pink popcorn flying out. ... from just the top!

I would suggest putting foam pipe insulation along the edge of the cymbal before wrapping with the bubble wrap.

Here's how I pack them.

Take two pieces of 1"foam cut a inch or more bigger than the cymbal.

Cut a notch to let the cymbal rest in to keep from shifting in transit and to protect the edge. Then I hot glue the other piece on top then wrap in heavy cardboard.

Hey Pops - it's because of guys like -you- that I have a room in my basement full of cardboard, foam, and packing materials! Every time I get something that is as well wrapped as your form-fitting foam for cymbals, I can't throw it out!

Some guys -like yourself- are really 'great' packers. I always save the better quality packing materials for future re-use. Something like your molded cymbal foam is an item I would definitely keep and re-use. Problem is, I may not have a set of hi-hats to sell for another year, maybe longer. Ergo, the boxes and packing doo-hickeys end up accumulating over time. I now have a roomful downstairs. Thank you very much.

John - :p

Too many great drums to list here!
