My 26, 13, 16 Radio Kings came across from the states the slow way; by sea. And the shells were nested inside each other. Took a long time but it was fairly cheap. I can't even remember the figure, it was incredibly low. Maybe comparable to cross country (Perth-Melb) shipping.

I could believe it. I recently sold a Bonham amber vistalite. I checked on shipping prices to Mexico City, Mexico and Toronto, Canada from Houston Tx, USA. I was quoted $1200 to ship to Mexico City and $800 to ship to Toronto. I guess if the drums had to go Australia it could have been a similar amount to your quote. Ouch.
