Selling Shipping Vintage Slingerland Drum Kit

Loading...

I have a Slingerland Drum kit from the mid 70's I am the only owner but now I'm looking to sell it. Selling it on eBay would reach a large number of people but the shipping seems like a nightmare. I've read several things online about "How to ship drums" but they don't take into account that all these drums have cases I also have a rolling hardware case. Shipping all of this in cardboard boxes seems crazy. Does anyone have any advice about how to ship such a kit 5 toms 22" bass, several snares 6 cymbals and an assortment of hardware extra pedals and other items. Also are there better selling alternatives for drum kits?

Don't sell on Feebay. Sell it locally. No shipping. Problem solved.

I agree, try selling locally first. When deciding on an asking price, consider the fees you would have incurred by selling through e-bay, and the savings gained by avoiding shipping materials and time spent packing. In other words, ask a bit less than you would if selling through e-bay. I've been successful with that approach. And don't be afraid to cast your net wide; people are willing to travel for a nice vintage kit.

I agree with the sell locally approach with an expanded aspect to it. I would offer to meet a buyer--not a potential buyer--up to 200 miles from my home. I would make certain to have at least one other person with me who is not a wife or a girlfriend, but a man capable of defending himself, you, and the drum gear. I would make certain to plan any such transaction during daylight hours at a location such as a Walmart parking lot immediately in front of the store or at a YMCA or church that has granted you permission ahead of time.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Or a police station parking lot (or lobby).

Even though i try and sell locally here in the UK. I have just shipped a complete hayman kit over to USA. The kit took 4 days to get there. It was expertly packed by myself and wifey. I always insist on full insurance as damage can occur. A lot of damage can be put right but not always. I have had some issues with slight damage on some shipments over the yrs, goes with the territory. This particular shipment got to the guys house in USA from UK in perfect condition. So i would urge local but remember sometimes drum enthusiast live over the pond and they will pay all the cost plus insurance. The total i paid to ship with full insurance was £160GBP. 22..13.16.14snare. It was a full original Hayman kit.
