Hey Mark, what kind of wood did they use on those Imperialstar shells?
I like the metallic look of the finish.

Mark, if the grain runs up and down, it's Luan. (Asian mahogany, less dense.) If the grain runs horizontal around the shell, then it's Mahogany.
Either way, I'll bet they're warm sounding drums.

John, On these Tama ImperialStar drums the wood is luan.You can;t see the inside of the shells they are painted inside.Oh this set is not a 70's set its from 1982 on thats when Tama came out with this style of lug badges,ete.....Mikey
