Rolling Bombers Please help with Value

Loading...

Unfortunately in order for me to acquire another

kit that I crave I have got to sell my Rolling Bombers.

They hardly ever come up for sale so I don't know what to ask.

I won't have to sell til spring so I have a little time.

They are 12", 13", 14", 16" toms. 26" bass, 7'5X14 snare.

They are the earlier version with tacked pig skin bottoms.

All original heads I think including a radio king Slunk snare head.

no missing parts that I know of. White Lacquer fairly scratched.

Please give me and idea if you know.

Most collectors of WWII drums are looking for the double headed, pearl finished type. Tacked heads were not necessarily "earlier". They were just the less expensive option.

The tacked heads are pretty tight and the

drums sound HUGE. I have not seen either

type of set for sale anywhere in quite a while.

Love those drums... gosh the value seems to be tough to find. I'm sure you looked at ebay.. I can't believe the full set that went for $125 was not some kind of scam buy. But then a single tom that didn't meet reserve at $108 seems maybe to be over optimistic to me.

The marble finish, double lug kits are the bomb (pardon the pun). I can't find any comps... but I'm sure some one here as sold one of these.

So maybe this reply will give the thread a little bump.

If I owned it, I would donate it to the Wright Patterson Air Force museum at a value of $5000 and take the tax write off. :)

Bill these are so cool. I remember when you first posted about them a while back. I'm not much help putting a price on them. But to me it's a big plus they are still in original condition. Have you tried Steve Maxwell, Donn Bennett or the likes? They might be able to help put a solid value on them. Good luck with the sale. :)

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

...PS

I also have a shipping center in Lewiston New York...so we would not have to worry about shipping over the border. Where are you located?
