Good to know thanks! That's a really cool color. Too bad the paint didn't work out. I was thinking it might match nicely. With all the Kandy, pearls and metallics out there. Hope Mikey can hook you up with the wrap. Cool1

Well if I dont get the wrap I will have fun deciding what to do with these. What species of veneer? Natural, stained? Hmm.

Thank you!

I find this to be a pretty interesting discussion as those wraps were very popular in the mid 70's through early 80's. They were particularly prominent on Rogers, Pearl and Tama drums of the time. As I recall, the pearlescence was created with a layer of foil in the wrap. I have often wondered why these are no longer available. Other than being prone to show scratches (which is true of any solid finish) these were great looking wraps. Does anybody know who made this material? I have kind of assumed it was a manufacturer other than Delmar that may now be out of business. I would imagine it was manufactured in standard 24" x 54" sheets as both my 18" and 24" had two seams. Any thoughts?

Jeff, I'll look forward to seeing what you do with these.

Veneer is a great idea if you can't find wrap. So many types to choose from. They really pop when finished too. Good stuff.

Ten years ago, I purchased an unused NOS full sheet of silver metallic Rogers off ebay. I believe the size was 39 or 40 inches x 96, if I remember right. No, definitely not the 24x54 we are familiar with. This sheet still had the protective plastic film on one side, with the manufacturers sticker tag. Sadly, I did not save it. But, it was all in Japanese.

That is interesting. So the wraps were MIJ? They are very cool and like tnsquint said, you wonder why they dont make it anymore. 40x96 sheets would be great! I have always wondered why the material is only 54" long.
