Rogers Wine Red Ripple kit 20/12/16 Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Hello all -

I have the opportunity to buy the set pictured. What I'm asking for is the opinions of the experts out there who know more than I. We have a price in the range of $1600-1700 - which I am fairly confident is about where it should be???

It is a 20 {Holiday / Cleveland} / 12 {Holiday / Cleveland} / 16 {Holiday / Fullerton}. The badge #'s vary greatly, so I do not know if this means the kit was pieced together from an orphanage, or if they had the same mother, so to speak. Does it matter greatly if in fact the kit had been pieced together?

There is no cracking in the wrap, & little fade / darkening. The inlays either missing or partial. Otherwise, the kit's in very good condition ... but I have yet to arrange a visitation to see if I want to adopt the babies.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers! Hobbs

Three drums only? No snare? Probably an add on floor tom. Looks like the color matches very well. Three drums in great condition have a seller's value pushing $1700 and a buyer's desired value of no higher than $1200. If the drums are pristine, match well, and are structurally excellent, I would put a top dollar value of $1400 out of my pocket. For that top dollar, I would expect any extras that the seller has such as snare, stands, pedals, cymbals, etc.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Morning leedybdp -

There is a snare that you can see in my initial post. Inlays missing in 1 hoop & partial in the other. The FT being an add-on is right on, I agree, since the gray interior on the BD & Rack; FT = speckled.

Never easy w/ Rogers is it? The WWR wrap was discontinued in '67-68 - & my mind's a muddle so I can't remember when the move to Fullerton happened.

The intruder in your deal quoting a value of 1800 is way out of line.

I am thinking 900-1200 tops, for those drums. and in this economy, or any economy, unless the match is absolutely perfect, that might be high. I quoted you what I paid in 06 for my collector grade set with close 64 numbers, and I dont see anything close to that here. My set was a hard buy even then, three drums, without a 14x14 and at the price I paid. No, I would have passed on this set at that time for that kind of money.

If you can live with the add on floor, and at a reasonable price, then buy them. If you are looking for Collector grade, this is not it, even if the drums will appear to be that from the outside.

My opinion is that no way would I give that much for this set.

Thank you very much for all of your time spent on addressing this kit.

Ploughman - what I'm after in my 40's is collector quality equipment. Reading that even if the exterior is great & the interiors aren't as good, the kit is not collector quality is news to me. The interiors don't look too terrible; but I suppose the tag issue, etc, make it so. I've bought enough Ludwig & it seems a bit more treacherous when it comes to Rogers.

All the best - Hobbs

By no means am I calling this a players kit. I am just saying that it is not on the same level as say a 1964 with close numbers, perfect everything and a matching snare native to the set.

Thanks paradiddle -

I'm going to focus on this kit here. I will let you all know what happens when it happens.

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR THE TIME YOU TOOK CHIMING IN ON THIS KIT!!!

It has been quite an education. I caught the Rogers bug after buying a blue onyx Dave Clark kit, which I have yet to play - I'm playing a Ludwig '60's BDP kit right now & love it.
