Rogers Triple Flanged Hoops

Loading...

How can I identify a Rogers triple flanged hoop from the Dayton time period? I've read that tall boys were used on the early B&B kits, but when did they switch to "normal" hoops and how can I tell the difference between a "normal" Rogers triple flanged hoop and a Ludwig or any other brand? Thank you Slingerland for not adding to the confusion. Are they chrome over steel? Any other identifying characteristics?

I bought a 67-ish Rogers 16" floor tom that the seller thought for sure the bottom hoop is not Rogers and possibly the top as well. The bottom hoop is badly rusted and I'm going to replace it. I'd like to put an authentic Rogers hoop on it.

Thanks.

With Rogers hoops the difference is in the bend at the hole. I can post a pic or three....... notice the tighter pinch at the hole. This is Rogers. There are variations of this through out Cleveland/Dayton/Fullerton/Big R. But the overall profile does not change much at any given time.

1968 Dayton era Dyna-Sonic. Serial is in the 13xxx range on the shell, all of this hardware came from a 6.5 drum in the high 12xxx range. The 6.5 was hopelessly damaged, the hardware however was great.

Exactly what I was hoping for, thanks Jack. Now I know for sure I need one Rogers 16" triple flanged hoop (non tall boy). I could also use tension rods for a floor tom. I'll be posting in the wanted section.
