Rogers Swivomatic pedal review

Hope this helps anyone looking into buying one of these. Go for the first generation pedal if you can find it. There are three parts to the review

Great post Jay!!

I'm a big Swiv fan, I have 2 pedals a second and a first and you really can feel the difference bewteen them.

The second is good but the first generation is just that much better.

As you said, the options that you can customize the settings that these pedals have is great. Other pedals may have one or maybe two but not all of the features that the Swiv's have.

Buddy had a good practical reason for choosing it. If you don't have one try one, you'll like as they say.

I'd be curious to see what the Speed King folks would say 'cause they're a die hard bucnh. And I will add that I have one of those too BTW.

Jay real interesting vids! Thanks for taking the time to show the differences. I plan to look for one of these down the road and those vids are very helpful.

Forgot to ask you something......what about part interchange? Is it possible for later generation parts to mix and match with the early stuff? I know the footboard assy would be no but the rest of the parts like the shaft with the bearings. As these were worn out or lost and replaced could you just order a new part later on for a older pedal?

Parts interchange is rather good from early to later pedals actually. The last of the run with the Supreme style hoop clamp, not as many parts interchange, but the true swivomatic types interchange easily. Its just a matter of mixing and matching the right parts.

I had an early pedal a while back with a broken footboard stay rod clamp. I ended up swapping a slightly newer version onto the pedal. I had to change the stayrod and the clamp and that was about it. The later footboards with the "improved" stay rods will interchange as well, but you need the whole setup (footboard, stayrod, and clamp) to make it work. Also, its very easy to swap a one-piece footboard with the early two piece footboard. All you need to change is the one piece footboard/hinge assembly with the early version two piece footboard and heelplate/hinge. The stayrod is even the same! The later CBS design two piece footboard, however, you must change the stayrod too as that is different between the two types of footboards.

So, see! Things are quite interchangeable amongst generations (and even with some of the Supreme pedal parts!)
