just wondering what a resonable offer is for this eagle badge cleveland rogers spotlight snare. The (6)lugs were splitting so they were replaced by some pearl lugs.

any other info on the rogers "spotlight" line is much appreciated

Did they use the original holes or did they have to "lengthen" the existing ones. Nice looking snare! For sure. Obviously it isn't worth as much due to the lugs. If they didn't widen the holes or do anything destructive, then I would say it should be about 150 bucks. It lost a bit of value, but the lugs can be replaced. So, not a total loss. However, if they did something destructive, then I would say it's only worth about 50 bucks total. It becomes a simple custom snare at that point. No real resale value. My numbers are taken from ebay completed listings. One purchased at 230 bucks and another with a buyitnow at 350 bucks. If others pay more or less, then maybe take that into account. This is just my research.

From a collectors point of view, it is greatly devalued. I am not so sure those are Rogers Beavertail lugs, the eagly badge would mean bread and butter lugs, which would demand elongating the holes. Not so sure about that throwoff either.

yeah, I couldn't help myself and bought it. the lugs are pearl which he said fit like a charm, the throwoff I know nothing about The snare tension is incredibly sensitive. Most importantly it is a beautiful sounding snare. it's really light. The bearing edges are like new, actually the whole thing looks mint, not a scratch on it and no fading on the wrap. No pitting on the hoops I'm using this as a players drum so I'm not concerned with the lugs. I'm loving it!

Good for you. Sounds like a sweet playing snare. If you ever wish to make it more "Rogers-like", you could always pick up some lugs and such to bring it into focus. I'm with you...if it plays nice and you like it, it's all good.

exactly...if the lug holes are really unaltered, or almost unaltered...you could take it to it's extreme and buy some B & B reproduction lugs from JP2 creations. But they are expensive...$25/ea. But they are also beautiful...and very strong, they won't fail like the original ones....and in your case you only need 6 of 'em.

If you did that, you'd be doing it out of love, because you probably wouldn't be able to get much more than $150 for the drum if you ever tried to resell it. But there's something to be said for historical correctness....

But basically, even now.... it's a great old Rogers shell, hoops, and throwoff...and the wrap looks to be in pristine condition.......so, enjoy the drum !

hey that's great to know. It's tempting to get the B&B lugs, I might start saving... but for now I'm just lovin' the sound

once again, thanks for the info and feed back!
