Rogers Red Onyx Wrap... Last viewed: 6 minutes ago

I've been wondering, is the Red Onyx wrap being offered by precision

drum a good match to the original?? I've seen 2 original red onyx sets ib

person, and the red background of the wrap seems darker, almost maroon

in color. The new replacement product seems not to be the same.

Any comments on this?

Not a great match. Believe the backing on one is white, the other is black.

I had them do a floor tom for me in red onyx several years back and it was an extremely close match to the other drums in the kit, which were original red onyx. I'm not sure about the red onyx they're currently offering.

The easiest thing to do is request a sample of the wrap and then compare it to the drums you're trying to match it with.

The repro onyxs I saw a few years ago were very close to the originals.

PowerTone with Precision wrap.

Original onyx wraps were partially translucent. That's why the black onyx turns brown in the white area. Modern onyx is black on the rear if you buy it from Precision. Jammin' Sam has something altogether different and the tone of the color is much brighter with the Jammin' Sam material.
