I have been given a Rogers Londoner 5 Big R set to sell on behalf. The owner told me it was a 1976 in Mojave red but it appears to be a lacquer finish. Is this California wine? The serial numbers are 744XXX and have clear interiors so from what I can tell that should put them in 77/78? Is this a rare finish?

It's a lovely kit in fantastic shape

Thanks for that. I figured it must be rare because Google didn't come up with too much.

I'll be giving it a light clean (the owner since 1988 has taken great care of them) and then I'll put some photos up here. It's a 22/12/13/16 with no snare. Unfortunately Ploughman, me and the kit are in New Zealand. I would imagine that it'll fetch good money here. Although it's a rare color, Rogers kits in any color are rare here so it'll probably not make a difference, which is a shame in a way. It is a very classy color though.

Here's the full kit set up. The badge on the 13" tom faces inwards when set up. Is this normal/common?

It's a beautiful kit and a credit to its owner.

That is an absolutely lovely set.

It should be quite valuable in your neck of the woods.

Yes... until the XP8 drums in 1979.

12... badge is left of the mount

13... badge is right of the mount

14... badge is left of the mount

With a 13-14 set up, both badges show.

This was changed after the introduction of the XP8 drums. Badges were 180 degrees.... opposite the mount.

Thanks Ploughman, that's really useful to know.

Yep, it's a lovely kit alright and I hope the next owner appreciates it and looks after it as much as the current owner.
