This is a nice one on Reverb.

It looks to be a Dayton era set-up into which a Fullerton 14x14 was substituted. I've asked the question to find out which drum has the Fullerton tag and speckled interior. It has the complete 331 internal cymbal holder along with the very useful 325 cymbal extension arm. It's also finished in my favorite color!

The seller returned comment. It's the 8x12 that has the Fullerton tag. Given that it is not very likely for a speckled interior/Fullerton era drum to have come out of the factory with a Cleveland PowerTone (right up on the edge of a Dayton era serial number at 11xxx), and two early Dayton flat grey drums, it could be the original 8x12 was damaged, lost or stolen somewhere along the line. Shouldn't be too hard to find a flat grey Dayton 8x12 to make a complete early Dayton set-up.

the mix of Cleveland Dayton tags are kind of screwy.... because of CBS frittering with the distribution /dealer process as it was set up by Strauss and Grossman. Once CBS took over in April May 1966, on into 67, immediately after the sale the first flubbering took place over Grossmans Cleveland Warehouse. Hence..... Dayton tags came into being. Messing with the small order Mom and Pops screwed the pooch real good, and a crapload of Cleveland drums started boomeranging back to Covington. In several months it got ironed out. But not without a host of mixed Cleveland Dayton "transition sets" Joe Thompson died in 68 and the whole shebang got moved to Dayton.

How quickly the "CBS is the devil" crowd shows up. At least the Ploughman got it correct that Fender didn't make things "screwy". Fender never owned Rogers. Fender was the marketing and sales channel that CBS utilized for Rogers.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Not sure I called them out for being the debil... but facts are facts. CBS was a very ... still is... a very big company whose bottom line was to make money. The things hoped for in the sale proved to be undeliverable in the ownership. The turbulence caused by the new owners is more of a reason we have mixed sets of Cleveland/Dayton tagged drums than by any "transition" period in which some drums were in a warehouse that was joined by other drums made when the new paper tags began to be used. They were after all, all the same drums. Nothing changed. I do like to be accurate as much as possible. There really is no other explanation for the set being as it is... since the history is simply as has been stated. It is what it is. The devilish part came along much later.
