I'd like to add a little here: there is a very distict difference between the Ludwig and the Rogers Butcher's Block. Yours is not Rogers. Also: a double mounted tom-tom configuration with one bass drum didn't really appear until the mid to late sixties; did it? I am open to correction and education here, but I certainly didn't see anyone using it until well after '66.
Rogers Lugs?? Last viewed: 1 day ago
Hello all! I usually stay on the sidelines, but felt it was time to add my knowledge about these lugs. First, I agree with everyone that the Slingerland Sound King lug was designed in-house. They are still beautiful lugs after more than 5 decades! What no one seems to have noticed is the length of the lug nut on the is lug. It's way too long to be an actual Slingerland lug. If everyone remembers, the lug nut was very short for almost 10 years, barely higher than the end of the casing. Also, the Slingerland lug has cast feet integral with the lug, while the vast majority of MIJ lugs do not have the cast feet, only a flat mounting bottom. Of course, without removing a lug, we won't know for sure. However, my money (and knowledge of import drums) is on the fact that these are MIJ Slingy copies. And, yes, we need to see pictures of the shell interiors to make a determination of the make.
Actually, we did notice. We also noticed that the lugs themselves are physically longer than the Slingerland lug. We also noticed the hoops are not Slingerland. We also noticed that the wrap is not a Slingerland stock wrap. We also noticed the Rogers hardware. etc etc etc. What we don't have is the actual images to verify the shell construction. All this is moot until those pics come in. Still waiting. The fact that we won't get the pics until after the purchase ... well ... that's not good. I wouldn't purchase the kit unless I knew what the heck it was. Just saying.
