Glenn,No, they didn't repeat the Holiday numbers... I was confused! Glancing at my dating guide, I saw Dayton labels 21xxx-24xxx were indeed 1969, but those were POWERTONE labels, not Holidays!. My mistake and apology to Mark. Glad my mistake didn't deter him in any way from picking up that beautiful Mardi Gras set he showed off in another thread.Mike

Hi Mike thanks for the info. If you don't mind I have another Q. Were the later 5 ply shells like my 24xxx floor tom from Keller or Jasper? I'm not 100% clear on this. There's a PDF a forum member had made with a pretty good Rogers date timeline. Lists each model and production changes.

Glenn,

Your Holiday 24xxx ('61-62) would be a Jasper shell (with rounded bearing edges as opposed to the almost flat, earlier bearing edges).

My dating guide shows the 5-ply Jasper shells (1961-1962) changing to 3-ply Keller shells in 1963, but then around mid 1964, the 3-ply Kellers are replaced by the 5-ply Kellers which remain through the Fullerton era. Gray interior paint on the 5-ply Kellers changes to speckled interior sometime in 1967 during the Dayton era (between Holiday numbers 84xxx and 88xxx).

My dating guide is covered in scribbles as I've made corrections over the years based upon the factory original drums posted on VDF, eBay, and other sources. I'm not that concerned about date of manufacture (which you know is only guesstimations based on label serial numbers). I'm more interested to know when specific hardware changed, like shells, lugs, tone controls, hoops, lug screws, strainers etc. Knowing these changes helps identify if a particular drum is indeed factory original. One day, I'll have to retype the whole mess and bounce it off the experts here.

Mike
