Holiday wasn't a specific configuration of a kit; it was the model name of the Cleveland and Dayton toms and basses which were used in kits up until the 1970 move to Fullerton. The Fullerton toms and basses were labeled "Power Tone" until the 9/72 series eliminated model names entirely.Mike
The move to Fullerton was in 1969. Early Fullerton kits still used the Holiday shells until the Power Tone shells came out in 1970. My kit is one of these.
The name change was the difference, not the shells. The name Power Tone had a more hip modern sound to it than Holiday. Shells were the same for early Fullerton. Shell change was for the 9/72 which were a three ply, at least part of the time. Changed back to five ply with the Memrilock in late 75.
Here's Dick Dodd using a 20,12,14 black diamond pearl in a Louis Bellson or maybe Citation configuration. Same, just differing catalog dates, but only has the tom mount without a cymbal mount on the bass. Given this is a '66, guess it would be a Louis Bellson named kit. I`m still playing one of those cracked rides from 1973-just can`t give it up.

What exactly is the Holiday model on a Rogers kit? Wondering specifically what makes a Holiday a Holiday.
They take a lot of vacations like Michelle Obama.
Gary Mallaber, who played on some of Van Morrison's recordings, used a cymbal like that with a missing chunk. Sometimes they just have that sound, don't they?
