Rogers Holiday Blue Strata 13" Tom, Dayton Era

Loading...

Hey everyone! This is my first post on vintagedrumforum.com. I've been following posts on here for quite some time, and I'm excited to be a part of the community. :)

Well, enough about myself! Here's the situation.

I have a Dayton era 13" Rogers Blue Strata tom that I'm contemplating doing a rewrap on, in Blue Glass Glitter(to match my other Rogers Cleveland era kit in blue sparkle). The hardware is all original, and looks great. No pitting, and shines like a diamond. Paper tag and even the internal muffler looks perfect. The color of the wrap looks a tad bit dull compared to what it must have looked like almost 50 years ago, and the wrap has a few very tiny cracks here and there, and is dinged up pretty badly in one section.

My question is this. Who thinks I should rewrap it to match my other kit that I love so much, and who thinks I should sell it and wait potentially forever to find a blue sparkle 13" Cleveland era tom?

I look forward to any feedback. :)

Blue strata is not that common of a Rogers color. If the wrap ain't toast clean it up and sell it. Blue glass is one of the most common Rogers wraps. If your patient I guaranty you will find a 9x13 for your kit. Welcome

I agree. Also, the Blue Strata drum is around 3-4 years newer and has a different interior paint, different hardware etc. Not a good match for an early kit.

What they said. Also, even though it is different up close, current blue glass or sparkle is a very good match for the old kits. I would sell that tom and find another 13". Someone might pay good money for that drum and it will complete a set. $00.02

I have a nice Cleveland 13" in Blue Sparkle, but someone added a Pearl mount under the Swiv-o mount...it's off a 20,12,13,16 kit...so right side tom....

When you put the Swiv-o back on,you do not see the extra holes..

PM me if you want more info

Thanks everyone! I think thats what I needed to here. Someone else will love this drum in its original state. Maybe I'll post it up in the sales section here before I put it on ebay. I'd like it to go to the right person. :)

Mr. Boombip, I own a blue strata set and they are very rare. Blue strata was produced 1967-1972 (we know, there will be exceptions). Your Dayton tom would be close to '67. Very very rare. That finish can't be reproduced.
