Rogers Dyna head with instructions repo stamp.. Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Okay,

New thread for this project. I start with the best images available.

Linda is a master in PhotoShop the images are restored. Send those off to an engraver to have a mag. plate made. That plate is a reversed image. A production plate is made here and rubber stamps come off that.

Take away, is if anyone wants an image on a rubber stamp now is a good time.

The OP and myself are both traveling so will be a couple of weeks before anything happens.

Send any images you would like to have to:

cjs@lost-coast-designs.com

Actual size no greater than 900 dpi. Any form of JPEG no *.BMP Please.

I don't think it would be a good idea to sell these. Would prefer to just offer them as a "Single use restoration item". Any joy derived just make a donation to VDF. Cart before the horse at this point. Will update when there is an update :-)

Thanks!

One heck of a great idea here Creighton and thanks very much for your offer to get the ball rolling on this one.I`m sure alot of the Dyna owner VDF members would be most interested in getting their Dyna head stamped to go along with those nice hang tags. That would pretty much make their Dynas complete and donations to the VDF is perfect. And a special thanks to Martin in Germany for offering the hi-res pic of his original stamp as without it this wouldn`t happen.

Wayne,

Thanks for the kind words. I don't own a Dyna and doubt I ever will. Have traded emails with the gentlemen in Germany. Just happy to help out.

Should have something you folks can use in a month or so, I know that sucks but best I can do.

As a collector, I don't have a problem with making reproduction stamps. However, I would hope the stamps be made with a distinguishing feature that differs from the original. Unfortunately there are unscrupulous folks out there that would try to pass off a new stamp as original, which would make the few originals around suspect.

It would be very easy to stamp a head and make it appear original. One of the reasons I bought the silver sparkle dyna below, was because it had original heads, and especially because the batter was stamped with instructions (along with the drums overall condition).

Just my two cents.

Powertone very valid points. When I did the Dyna tags this was also a topic that came up. I chose to do a "faithful" recreation close to original specs as possible. Differences in the tag hole reinforcement itself a one small detail I added while printing allows me to spot mine from anything else new or original. Stamps however are a different story. Making them a tad larger or smaller font wise should take care of that. But again that's for Creighton to decide.

Yep,

Powertone address the crux of the problem. Have many folks that would just like all the details back to the day the drum left the factory. I try and do this whenever possible. Think it is part of our stewardship of vintage gear. This history is going away fast. Not original but correct.

On to fakes being created. I can add Reproduction no problem. Or whatever is seen as the best route.

Will submit:

Would not be an easy task to create a vintage correct Dyna batter head. Sadly with crappy pictures offered on auctions these days can see how it could be an issue.

So, Just going to let this thread ride until I return home. Idea's and suggestions welcome.

Have given this a ponder. Sorry there will be no Rogers Instruction Head stamp produced. Regret I just don't don't have time to muddle through the BS that is required.

Best regards,

Creighton

Creighton,i still think this is a great idea and can well understand your thoughts on forseen problems encountered in bringing this idea to life, and the same problems cropped up with the hang tags that Glenn and John did but they happened.Somehow, someway, there is always a way to make things happen. Not trying to talk you into anything here but please do give it more thought. I think a lot of members here will be behind you with support.
