Rogers Drums Complete

Loading...

Well, sort of complete, non-original hoop, claws and t-rods on batter side of kick, but it's better than it was.

I got this kit as part of a trade deal, it was missing all bottom lugs on floor, kick and missing one on tom. There were no bottom hoops, t-rods or claws. I got all but one lug from Vintagedrumbug, (Thanks Vinnie), I had the hoops for toms and bought t-rods and claws here locally. I was still missing a kick hoop so I went to Sam Ash. My bud there says follow me and took me to his car, opened the trunk and there was at least 15 wood hoops. He said he was using them for some art project, I found a black 20" hoop and he charged me 20 bucks. So here it is, a Fullerton era Rogers ready to rock&roll again. Now I just need a coated kick head with a Rogers logo.

Nice job getting this one up and runnin'. It's also nice to see a 20" bass from this period when most Fullertons were 22 or 24".

Only sore spot about this story is the guy with 15 wood bass hoops who's going to use them for an "art project"??? Arrrrghhh! DOH

Actually, after a further inspection, the 13 is the only one with a tag and it says Fullerton.

Is there another way of confirming where the other two were made?

Some interior pictures of shells showing the lug screws could help narrow down if the bass and FT are Daytons or Fullertons. Rogers lug screws went through a few variations over the years.

Here's the interior of the kick and floor.

From that interior shot, it looks like your bass is a late Fullerton, 9/72 series. Although the hex-head lug bolts were introduced in the late Dayton era, the hex heads at that time were slotted but used round washers....

The slotted hex heads continued into early Fullerton Holidays (pre-9/72 series), but used star washers....

By the 9/72 series, the hex heads lost their slot and had little "built-in" washers as you've pictured, so it would appear that your bass is a Fullerton 9/72 series made between 1972 and 1974 providing that those are the original bolts, and it looks like the original reso-side bolts on your bass have already been replaced by modern, non-Rogers round head bolts. And from the style of the leg mounts on the floor tom, it's probably safe to assume that the FT is also a Fullerton.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that about narrows it down to a Fullerton era kit. Btw, all the screws and washers on the resonant side of floor and kick are new, I know because I put them on.Cool1
