Rogers Cymbal Stands Last viewed: 10 hours ago

I recently picked up what I believe to be a pair of 70s Rogers cymbal stands

(Model 48-0512) in extremely sound condition, both functionally as well as cosmetically. The top sections of the stands with the swiv-o-matic tilters intalled on them have "bends" in them. I've never seen any like this. Do you believe that these top sections were purchased in this configuration or do you believe that the prior owner somehow had the "bends" put in them?

As usual, thanks in advance for your time and your help.Bowing

Hey Gary!...

Mikey's quite right, not OEM Rogers, so those have been.. "compromised".. if you will. Very easy to bend them of course, and the results are as shown. Too bad as those are nice stands! They still can be of course... all you need do is search out a couple top sections on eBay or otherwise. They do indeed come up from time to time. I actually have to laugh a bit because back in "the day", who knew that all this hardware from the 60's/70's would be coveted and worth some bucks today! Looks like someone "needed" a mini boom and decided to take matters into their own hands!

MIKEY777: I certainly wasn't aware of one either. I must say though that, for a guy having a bad day, it must have been a very "controlled rage" since he did a pretty clean job on them!Excited

Tommyp: I had a funny feeling that if I placed the word "Rogers" in my subject line that I'd be fortunate enough to hear from you! Thanks for taking the time out of your extremely busy schedule to provide your input. I picked up the two stands for several reasons -- the price, the condition, the fact that I've already got three original "swan-leg" stands that will also accept the compromised top sections, and the fact that I was looking for a stand to mount a small splash cymbal.

It's kind of funny how in my last pic the prior owner decided to slightly "tilt" the compromised section yet kept the "tilter" perfectly straight.

The bottom line is that both stands are extremely sturdy AND functional. As a little added "bonus", the compromised sections will probably make a nice conversation piece as I play in front of those huge crowds at the local American Legions, VFW halls and Elks Clubs this spring.
