Rogers black onyx on ebay

Considering picking up this one if I can get the right deal. What's a good price? What's too much? I love the finish, but don't want to overpay. Is there anything I should look out for with this kit?

That is my favorite Rogers wrap so my opinion may be biased. Personally,

if I were in the market, I would have no problem giving $1,250.00-$1,400.00 for that set. Beauty and value are in the eye of the beholder.

That would be one of my dream kits. I wonder if he may trade for my Red Onyx! Just kidding.

Good luck!

If the description is accurate, it is probably a reasonable price - maybe $100 to $200 higher than you'd like, but it looks very correct and very clean and that means a lot when you are judging price. Parts for Rogers drums are very expensive. The parts I note are the claws and rods and the extra two set screws in the tom arm. Ploughman can probably advise if claws and rods are right for that bass. I'm not that sure. I know it transition somewhere in the Dayton flat grey to speckled grey era. The extra two set screws shouldn't be there unless they have had problems with the arm staying in place. They were design for just two.

It is from the period of peak Rogers construction. He says no cracks in wrap. You would want to inquire about the reinforcing rings on the inside. A fair number of Dayton flat grey drums have separation in the rings. If so, they need to be checked to see if they are remaining in round.

Now, have you considered adding one of the two Dynasonic snares that will match? :D

With one of those latched on, you'd be cookin'.

Also note this one on Craigslist:

http://newyork.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=rogers%20drum&sort=rel

22,13,16, same Headliner layout with a tom mount up between the top left lugs and a knobby on the right for an 'L'. Bit better pricing, might be more negotiable on Craigslist, but may not be quite as clean. Description says, "Collector quality".

Good luck!

I knew this would happen right after I spent my drum money. I just bought a sweet Gretsch round badge in champange.

I would jump on this kit especially at that price. Make sure it is 100% though; there are a lot of nice kits floating around on the bay lately.
