Rogers black onyx 20/12/14/Powertone Last viewed: 19 seconds ago

I am offering for sale this Cleveland / Dayton Holiday kit.

Wood Powertone snare...speckled Dayton, both Rogers heads;

20" kick: speckled Dayton, Rogers resonant head (Rogers batter head was split when I got them);

12" tom: flat gray Dayton, both Rogers heads;

14" floor tom: flat gray Cleveland with one Rogers head still present.

I have had these for about two and a half years. The previous owner had them since 1971, but they were stored in his basement since 1981. Super nice with no splits or cracks that I can see. I have not stripped the drums down to clean / polish them; I have cleaned them a bit, but left the tension casings, etc. in place, so, the new owner will have the privelage of detailing them as he / she sees fit. I brought them home and put them away without playing them, so I haven't gotten really attached to them.

The weak spot on the drums are the hoops / tension rods / washers on the floor tom (from sitting in a basement for almost thirty years ?).

The shells, bearing edges, wrap are just fine. The wrap across the kit has some usual scratches, etc. but the consistent atmosphere they have been in over the years has been kind to them.

I am asking $2250, but I may consider keeping the snare if someone only wants the kick and two toms.

not-so-great pics, I know...I am technically challenged. Thank you, Bill

Bill is a stand up guy. My blue sparle Rogers came from him. I still have them, and it just might be the best sounding kit I own.

We're all hoping it will. Bill is a good man and those are some great drums (how many 14"s have you seen lately?) the asking price is always a good place to start negotiations for a 'serious' buyer.

Best of luck with the sale, Bill. I'm certain whoever buys them will be happy with the purchase.

Powertone is worth more than a COB dyna.

I know I'll get slammed for my opinion, but when you open up with "Quick sale" and then throw that price out, it makes me wonder. BTW, I see 14" floor toms everywhere, I owned a bdp in the same sizes and paid far less than his quick sale price.

I believe he was simply saying he hoped to sell the set quickly! Not that the drums were "priced to sell quickly" just that they are priced fairly and he would like them to sell fast. I don't speak for Bill but again he is a great person to deal with and will make sure you know what you are getting.

I think the price is right. I paid slightly more for my red onyx kit in the same configuration. Good luck!
