Rogers at gig

Took my Rogers Big R out for a gig. This picture just for fun.

It's got big sizes (24/13/18) for big fat rock. It's a players kit, I customized it a bit. Because I only use 1 rack-tom and put it in a snare stand all the time there was no use for the big pole that these kits have in the bass drum. So I took that out, so it won't absorb vibrations. I put a sheet of rubber between the brackets that hold the bass-drum spurs. Same for the brackets that hold the floor tom legs. I removed the tom bracket from the rack-tom and glued in a piece of maple. I fixed some thick rubber tubes on the rack-tom stand, so the tom kind of floats.

The drummer of the band that played before us used my kit. I was in the audience and very much pleased by how the kit sounded, never heard it played by somebody else before.

Seems to have made it a bit difficult to focus on the drums, but probably does draw some attention to the drummer

Yes, everyone should hear their drums played by someone else. We all tune our drums to the way they sound from behind the set, when we should be tuning to how they sound to the audience (and it can be quite different).

Very nice Big R set, and I know finding vintage Rogers sets in Europe can be difficult and sometimes expensive. Glad you're in the Rogers family and actually gig with them. That's a 24" bass? You must be a tall guy, because that bass looks small in front of you. And I also love your bass head. For anyone who'd like to copy it, here's the original shot of Marilyn Monroe...

It's actually quite wholesome (she's drinking milk);)

I've considered cutting a mic-hole on a certain specific place..... But didn't do it, it would be too unsavoury.
