I have a set in near mint condition. Bass 14X22, Floor 16X16 and 2 rack toms, 9X13 and 8X12. The bass hoops hardly have a ding in them and on top of the bass it has a sticker that says Benny Gould's Music World, Norfolk, VA. All have tags, except the floor which fell off somewhere, with serial #s around 78000 to 79000. I do have a few questions about what is worth doing and buying to restore them to their complete original condition:

1. Has anyone had luck cleaning lug screws and washers? I recently used CLR (calcium. lime, rust) remover on old Ludwig hardware but they turned a brassy color. Only the floor tom has this issue. Is this worth doing?

2. I think a few original rims were replaced - what are the distinguishing features of Rogers rims for that era so that I can tell what to keep and what to shop for?

3. Were 1 7/8" t-rods used on rack toms and 2 7/8" t-rods used on floor toms during that era?

Other than that I only need a round muffler knob and 1 bass tee. Worth the work or should I just not worry about it since "ugly" color does not fetch top dollar? Is a re-wrap an option since the gray speckled shells and bearing edges just about look new?

Thanks and hope to hear from the Ploughman too.
