Rogers 6 1/2: Powertone Snare

Hey guys,

I recently got a steal of a deal, at least I think so, on a Rogers Red Sparkle Drum set (Cleveland era). The drums sizes are: 20" Bass (Tower), 12" Tom (Tower), 14"x16" (deep) Floor Tom (Holiday) and a 6.5" Powertone Snare drum w/ B&B Lugs (no cracks). I have a few questions. How rare is the 6 1/2" Powertone and the 14"x16"(deep) Holiday floor tom? I have never seen these before. Any idea on the value? Any information would be appreciated. I posted pictures below. Thanks.

Post tag information. Include City of origin, number, and series of drums. if something is crossed out, include what is written in. Also include color of interior and type of fasteners on the lugs...... the interior screws. For the snare, include type of throw off....... elongated Swivomatic or Clockface.

6.5 Powertone with B&B is quite rare.

And I happen to be a drum p o r n junkie. Post Pics.

A lot of Tower kits were sold as bass-small tom-snare. After a while, the floor tom was added, and was often a Holiday sold out of dealer stock, many times a 16".

The 14" tom is more valuable than a 16", especially if sold separately. A lot of folks would not be drawn to the kit because of the mismatch in models, but it's a very nice set of sizes.

That 6.5 b&b Powertone is pretty rare, worth some heavy coin by itself - more as a collector piece than a player because of the b&b lugs.

Do the other 3 drums have b&b lugs or beavertail?

In a word yes.... The 6.5 Powertone is rare, especially since it may be a b&b lug version. B&b Powertones were made for a very short period prior to switching to beaver tail lugs. In fact I can say that I have never seen a 6.5 b&b Powertone.

I will add that I know of only a handful of 6.5 beaver tail Powertones, especially from the Cleveland era.

Pictures will tell the tale. Btw, I am assuming the PT you are talking about is a wood shell?

Yes it's a wood shell. I was so excited about getting this drum set. I got an unbelievable deal on it. I still can't believe it. I will post pictures, but kind of wanted to clean the kit up before I did. But I want the experts to look at the drums to see what's original and give me informatrion. Thanks

I took some pictures of the drums. Please take a look at them. Like I said before the snare is a 14"x6.5" Powertone Snare with B&B lugs (no cracks). I think it maybe rare along with the 14" floor tome. Any information appreciated.

I also need a few parts for this set. For the 12" Tom I need - 1 B&B lug, tension rods and rim (cleveland). Also, for the floor tom - 1 Beaver Tail lug, and 4 tension rods (cleveland).

Is it my bad eyes or is the hoop on the snare closer to the lugs then the top hoop? From my point of view in the pictures it looks off. Are the holes for the lugs even in measurements to the edges of the top and bottom of the drum?

Nice kit too. Great color.

I'm jealous prostix! Very jealous. Congrats on the find. The kit looks in excellent condition. Be very pleased w/ yourself. Since you pointed out that you had a screaming deal, do you mind giving a ballpark?

Since you pointed it out BBK, I'd say it does look closer. It looks legit to me, though -
