So I see the one on Ebay the seller is starting at 125. I might offer 65 for the drum.

Jeff,The butt plate looks original, but the strainer does not on the Revere snare. Here is a pic of similar kent snare on ebay.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Kent-Mahogany-Finish-Snare-Drum-Single-Flange-Hoops-Clips-6-Lug-NICE-/280935548942?pt=Vintgae_Drums_Percussion&hash=item416910480eThe Kent is the earlier badge so perhaps the Revere dates the same time.tom
That Kent strainer you would fine on all of the snares that Kent made with the Kent name on them.....Mikey
Did Kent use the strainer on the Revere for all the rebranded snare drums?
I have a hunch that the strainer in the picture of the drum I posted (the one I am thinking about buying) has the origional strainer, because the seller says his dad bought it new in the late 50's then gave it to him, (his son), then the son used it for a short time in the 80's, then the drum was stored in a closet. SO its been in the same family all its life and not used too much. It looks like its in excellent condition. I am trying to build up a snare collection and thought this would be a nice addition.
Mikey thinks 50-60 dollars for the drum, anyone else agree? I would like to have it but dont want to overpay, the seller wants 150.00 and that seem like way too much since I just bought a 69 Acro in damn near mint cond, with case and stand for 75.00. But are these Revere drums more scarce then acros? I would think so, you see acros evreywhere you go seems like but this is the first Revere I have seen.

I think Mikey's price is a good starting point. The Kent drums seem to go for 50-75 plus shipping on ebay. IMO the Revere is in better shape than most that come up on ebay. I like the Kent made drums and personally wouldn't have an issue paying $100 for one that was in really good condition that I was going to keep and use.
I would guess that the Revere is rarer that an Acro based on the fact that Kent was a small manufacturer compared to Ludwig. I wouldn't expect to see another one in this good condition soon, so if you like it you should certainly make the seller an offer.

Pretty much what I was thinking, but its nice to hear it from others as well. Plus its fun to show the drum to everyone and see the reaction. Thank you for your input.

Same thoughts here, Jeff... You do see Kent's from time to time. The only Revere I've ever seen is the one I posted earlier, the MIJ one. The Kent's I've run into all seem to be nice drums. I've read that they had some quality control issues although I've never run into a poorly made Kent drum.
I would be cautious about any Kent, Revere or Musketeer snare, w/ out a good hands on inspection, or direct questions to a seller to double check. These shells were very thin, & had a deep snare bed which left a very vulnerable edge on both sides of the bed. They tend to bend over under pressure . These snares are a nice slice of US drum history, but one must be reasonable & cautious about putting $$ into them. A lot depends on what angle you're coming from,..a player?, an investor?, or just a collector/displayer of rare birds in a cage ? I like these Kent family drums, but will only pay peanuts if they're available for that.
Thanks for the advice everyone I really do appreciate it. I offered him 75.00 for the snare drum, Ludwig tombstone case, stand and a Billy Gladstone practice pad, sticks, drum key and a music stand. He took the offer and I will get the drum tomorrow. I feel like I got a good deal. I buy drums for collecting and restoring but I do play them also. Most of them I keep, I do sell off the ones I fix up and paint or wrap in veneer. For now I am re-learning how to play the drums after a 12 year break so, no gigs for me just yet. I can post better pics after I get the drum if anyone is interested.
Thanks again,

I would love to see the cool stuff. I'm looking for an award drum and this one just might hit the mark.
