Remo "Mark 5" drum head

Loading...

Anyone ever heard of a Remo "Mark 5" Diplomat head? It is VERY thin. I am using it as a snare side head (it's coated) and it sounds GOOD! Similar to the sound of an Evans Genera Dry on top /Ambassador clear snare side. Very focused. But with the Mark 5 with an Aquarian "Ambassador" batter equivalent, there is better rebound than the Genera Dry.

I'll have to try one of those! New one on me... 'Mark5'?

I went to the Remo website, and an M5 (Mark 5) is an orchestral batter head for very low volume playing. Mine came with a pile of heads bought from a drummer who was selling off inventory. M5 probably means 5 Mil.

> 5 Mil.

I 'think' most snare heads are 7 Mil. So 5 would make for a more sensitive/responsive head. I am going to order one and try it on a couple of snares just to see what it does to the sound. I have a deep-dish COB super-sensitive I'd like to try it out on.

I'd have thought a coated head on the bottom would sound weird, but it doesn't. It's also pretty loud.
