Hi Everyone -

can anyone tell some things about these kits? There is one for sale on CR for $250. Not sure of the age. All heads are good and there are just a few tension rods missing. It's a huge set - double bass (don't care) 4 mounted toms and a floor tom in black lacquer. I have a go -to 60's Supra for it. What I do know about these kits is that the shell is a composite of resin and basically wood chips. Not sure of the "wood" type. I've read conflicting reports . Some say get in your car and drive far,far away. Others say they have had excellent results with their Remos. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have heard the shell construction described as everything from cardboard to particleboard, but a set in good condition, and with good heads, sounds very good!

I have played someone else's set, and they sounded surprisingly good.

Check out the shells closely for moisture or other damage. If the color/style looks good to you, then $250 is ok for a set that big.

The earliest REMOs had a bit of a quality issue ... but, the rest of them are wonderful. Excellent sound. Excellent quality. FAR from particle board. Really interesting drums.
