red sparkle Ludwig snare

Loading...

Hi, this is my first post, and I don't know too much about drums, but I have a really pretty red sparkle 14-inch snare drum in very good (barely used) condition. It is dated Sept. 22 1966 or 1968. I can't make out the last digit. It could even be 1965, but I don't think so. I've had it since 1969. The Ludwig logo on the drum head says Weather Master and under it, it say Orchestra Batter. The hoops are steel and the bottom of the drum is clear. It has a brass plate with a serial number 401531. Is this drum worth anything or was it just a standard issue school band drum?

Thanks for any info.

According to the serial numbers it is a 1966 model, Please post some pics of the drum, it will help us evaluate your drum! if it has 6 lugs it is a pioneer model if it has 8 lugs it's a Jazz festival model big price difference in the two drums!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Hi, Sorry I've taken a while to get back. It's taking a bit more time to get some good pics than I thought. I'm still working on that and will post them soon—hopefully. In the mean time, my drum has only 6 lugs, so I guess it's the pioneer model.

As I said, I'll post photos asap!

Thanks for your kind responses.
