Recent Ludwig & Gretsch Model Kits Last viewed: 17 hours ago

Just wondering if any of you have tried out the recent Ludwig "Special Edition" Clubdate Kit or the Gretsch Kit that's modeled after the '57 Chevy? If so, does either one actually have a sound comparable to any of the vintage kits?

Thanks, John!

I did see that post. Since I don't own anything that could possibly be considered "modern" I was just wondering how kits like this and the small Gretsch Catalina kits compare to eachother. Several friends of mine mentioned that they liked the Catalina kits but that the hardware was somewhat on the cheap side. My assumption is that those Gretsch kits designed after the '57 Chevy must be in a much higher class, based on how they're priced.

Those new Gretsch kits in the "Motor City" colors are pretty cool looking. I saw a few kits on ebay. Nice throwback idea.

I saw the spec ed Cavern Clubdate kit at GC yesterday,It was stacked on a shelf but it looked really good, bet the wrap, lugs, and the spurs and rail looked good to me and in keeping with the vintage vibe they were going for.

The shells are cherry/gum,I think the same as the ludwig epics? and probably the same factory makes the cherry/gum shell for OCDP these days.I heard the ocdp version and it sounded pretty good to me, I have heard sound files of Ludwig shells and they sounded good to me.
